Q: How does Islām view human rights?

A: Freedom of conscience is laid down by the Qur’ān itself: “There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion..” (2:256) The life, honor and property of all citizens in an Islāmic country (or anywhere) are considered sacred whether the person is Muslim or not.

“O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of God is the most righteous of you. Indeed, God is Knowing and Acquainted.”
Qur’ān 49:13

All humans are equal. There’s no superiority for anyone over anyone except for the piety. There’s no difference of rights on the bases of color, creed or family background.
